Making sure our businesses are safe and protected is at the forefront of most business owner’s mind. However if you have an office building with staff, it is not always easy to know where to start when looking into the top security features to ensure your commercial property and staff are protected. If you are looking for advice on how to do this, follow our checklist on the safety measures you should be looking into to make sure your business premises and staff are safe and properly protected.

1. Car Park Entrance

All business owners, regardless of the size of the business should be looking for a safe and secure way for staff to enter and exit the building As the car park is the first part where the security of your business begins, it is one of the most important areas to focus on. If you are sharing the carpark with other businesses in your office block then you are going to need to create a board to ensure your car park is both electronic and properly managed by security carpark staff.

2. CCTV Installations

This is the second area to be looking into. If your business does not already have CCTV installations around your commercial premises then this is something that you are going to need to get on top of immediately. CCTV will keep your office equipment, business data and your staff safe so it is a non-negotiable on the checklist of properly protecting your business.

3. Increased Security

If there is a lot of activity within your business then perhaps you need to take your security to an even higher level. Perhaps you have valuable items or products within your building, or perhaps you host prestigious events at your office and need to protect your guests. Therefore look into top-tier security measures such as security doors and proper security fencing around the perimeter of your commercial property. Whatever the nature of your business, if you feel that you need the top level of security then these two items also need to appear on your checklist.

4. Alarm Systems

Reliable alarm systems are another essential item for all businesses. Nowadays there are a wide range of options available depending on the needs and nature of your business, so spend a little time researching into the best option for you. Look into wireless and hard-wired systems and intruder detection burglar alarms to see what kind of system would be the best for your type of building, area and business type. Getting the right alarm system will not just prevent intruders but it will also make sure that you are immediately alerted should there be any suspicious activity on your premises, so that you can respond quickly and accordingly.

It is also worth bearing in mind that the more protected your offices look, the less likely you are to attract unwanted attention. Therefore following this essential checklist will go a long way to make sure that you are taking all the best safety measures to ensure your offices look safe and properly protected.
